Get ready for DrupalSouth 2023!

Sector Ecosystem

DrupalSouth, the Drupal conference for Australia and New Zealand, is being held in Wellington this May - and the Sector team can't wait to see you there.

The conference returns to New Zealand for the first time since 2017, and in-person for the first time since the pandemic began. The three-day event kicks off with two full days packed with talks from Drupal experts, and a code sprint on the final day.

Quick facts about DrupalSouth

What: Annual conference for the Drupal community
Where: The Embassy Theatre, Wellington, New Zealand
When: May 17-19 (Wednesday-Friday)
Info & tickets: See the DrupalSouth website

Who are these Drupal experts you speak of?

A few of the Sector team are speaking on the first day, so if you're planning on attending the conference we'd recommend (completely unbiased, of course...) that you add these talks to your calendar:

10.15am | 🎤 Build Your Own Mailchimp in Amazon SES

Dieuwe de Boer talks through the process of implementing a subscription and email templating system using Amazon Web Service's Simple Email Service.

1.30pm | 🎤 Introduction to decoupled Drupal with a Gatsby frontend

Stewart West demonstrates how to decouple Drupal from a website's frontend by using Gatsby to build the frontend locally.

3.00pm | 🎤 LINZ & Charts Showcase: From Discovery and Designs, to Development and Delivery

Jack Kilborn (with some help from Dieuwe de Boer & Gareth Poole) recounts a web rebuild for Land Information New Zealand - replacing their complex Drupal 7 website with a Sector Drupal 9 one (or two).

4.00pm | 🎤 Why Drupal? Why Now? - Panel Discussion

Dave Sparks hosts a panel discussion about the current success of Drupal and what the future looks like - come along to hear about the best uses for Drupal and where it fits into the market.

There's plenty more happening across Wednesday and Thursday - check out the full schedule.

Code Contribution Sprint

On Friday there is an organised code sprint, where the Sector team will take the opportunity to hunker down and work through some issues in the issue queue, as well as continuing to work towards Sector 10.

We'd love it if you came and said hi, or even joined in with the sprint - look out for the people rocking Sparks and Sector t-shirts. 😎
